GET INVOLVED

StayHomeSD thrived thanks to the collective efforts of individuals, volunteers, donors, and community partners who stepped up during the Covid-19 crisis. From delivering supplies to funding emergency needs, every act of support played a vital role in protecting San Diego’s most vulnerable residents. Here’s how people got involved:

Volunteer Your Time

Volunteers were the heart of StayHomeSD’s operations. They signed up to deliver groceries, hygiene supplies, and prescription medications directly to the doorsteps of those in quarantine or at high risk. Some helped distribute food boxes at drive-through pickup sites, while others coordinated logistics, maintained contactless protocols, and kept communication flowing between recipients and organizers. Many volunteers worked behind the scenes—organizing routes, tracking requests, and matching community members in need with available resources. Their time and effort enabled the organization to operate efficiently, safely, and with compassion.

Make a Donation

Monetary donations allowed StayHomeSD to act swiftly and respond to urgent needs. Contributions were made through PayPal, Venmo, and GoFundMe, with many donors giving repeatedly as the pandemic evolved. These funds were used to purchase critical supplies such as food, disinfectants, personal protective equipment, and emergency medications. Donations also supported transportation costs and technology infrastructure needed to coordinate services at scale. Even small contributions went a long way in helping residents remain safe in their homes, and many donors expressed that giving was a way to stay connected and helpful during a time of social isolation.

Partner With Us

Community partnerships were essential to the reach and sustainability of StayHomeSD. Local businesses donated supplies in bulk, offered logistical support, and provided sponsorships that covered essential operational costs. Nonprofits and mutual aid groups collaborated on referrals and resource-sharing to avoid duplication and maximize efficiency. Medical professionals advised on safe practices, and neighborhood associations helped spread awareness. These partnerships amplified the impact of every dollar and every delivery, allowing StayHomeSD to extend its support across the wider San Diego region.
